NCStL

The Nashville Chattanooga and St Louis' (NC&StL) Memphis Line began as the Tennesse Midland and was completed to Perryville, TN, on the Tennessee River in 1889. The TM went bankrupt and was acquired by the Louisville and Nashville (L&N) Railroad in 1896 through foreclosure. The line was leased to its subsidiary the NC&StL by the L&N. It became a part of its parent line when the two lines merged in 1957. An eleven mile segment of the line through Cordova, TN, remained in service until 2001 when it was embargoed. Eventually the line was abandoned and the tracks were removed in 2008.
