Leewod Yard

Leewood Yard is the only remaining CSXT yard in Memphis. While still an active yard, run through trains and a nearly non-existant cutomer base has reduced it to primarily a pick up and set out location. The former L&N tracks west of the yard have been either abandoned or removed. Through traffic with the UP and BNSF is handled over the LA Belt between Leewod and Aulon,  thence over the former NC&StL between Aulon and the end of the NC&StL tracks at "Tower 17" on  Broadway near the former location of Union Station.

The paved area in the picture above, which is looking east from Warford Avenue, was the former L&N ramp and was later used by Mitsui OSK Lines. CSXT's ramp is now located at a joint facility with the CN in Pidgeon Industrial Park south of Johnston Yard. Both CSXT's intermodal trains and run though trains carrying CN carload traffic use the LA Belt between Johnston Yard and Leewood.
