Harrison (Johnston) Yard
Harrison Yard was originally named Nonconnah Yards and was built by the Memphis and Stateline Railroad, a company set up by the Illinois Central to construct the yard as well as the L.A. Belt and the Etter-Lakeview Cut Off, now known as the High Line. Construction began in 1904 and operations began in 1904. Originally a hump yard, the hump was torn down in 1949, the yard reconfigured and was renamed Johnston Yards. On September 24, 2009, after being completely rebuilt by the Canadian National Railroad, it was renamed Harrison Yard in honor of retiring CN President Hunter Harrison.
